The foundation: subconscious conditioning brought to the surface expands consciousness.
We at Ayahuasca Colombia cordially invite you to participate in our ayahuasca ceremonies, retreats and jungle journeys to experience a profound spiritual journey. You will be accompanied during your retreat by an experienced team who still master the traditional work with Ayahuasca medicine in ceremonies today.
Our vision for our ayahuasca retreat is to support you on your path to personal growth, inner healing and spiritual expansion. The ayahuasca drink, which originates from the Amazon, naturally plays an important role during the ceremony.
Our ayahuasca ceremonies take place in a safe and respectful environment. We attach great importance to your safety and well-being during your ayahuasca retreat. In the ayahuasca ceremonies, we accompany you on your inner journey as you experience the transformative power of ayahuasca medicine.
Our retreat offers a holistic experience where you not only consume the ayahuasca drink in a ceremony, but also have the opportunity to receive the teachings and wisdom of our teachers from the Kamentsa Biya tradition. Our ayahuasca retreats are designed to give you time to engage with your new experiences, connect with nature, rest and deepen your spiritual journeys.
For those who want to experience the most powerful medicinal plant of the Amazon rainforest first-hand, we offer exciting jungle journeys. Here you have the opportunity to experience ayahuasca ceremonies right in the heart of the Amazon and get in touch with the teachings of plant medicine of a long generation as well as your own nature in its pristine state.
Feel the revitalizing healing power of ayahuasca in our unique ayahuasca ceremonies. Recent studies prove that ayahuasca therapy can heal people with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders and addictions.
Experience the healing magic of ayahuasca with us in the jungle of Colombia through three different ceremonies. In the Putumayo jungle, follow in the footsteps of the experience of our Taitas and their shamanic healing arts, handed down over the centuries.
If you would like to book a private ayahuasca ceremony with friends, family or even a very personal ceremony for your own experience, this is a special opportunity for you.
The origin of ayahuasca lies in the shamanic religions of the Amazon region and other parts of South America – including Colombia. Countries where ayahuasca is taken for medicinal purposes in a ceremony include Brazil, Peru and Colombia. Profund traditions, experiences and centuries-old knowledge of the shamans are incorporated into the preparation of the medicine that is administered during an ayahuasca ceremony. What exactly is contained in the medicine, how it is used during the ceremony and how its effects can be explained or whether it is dangerous is described below.
Essentially, ayahuasca consists two different plants; the ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) and chacruna leaves (Diplopterys cabrerana).
Chacruna – lat. psychotria viridis – is a plant that grows in South America and contains the ingredient dimethyltryptamine (DMT). DMT is a tryptamine alkaloid that has a psychoactive effect. The substance is usually broken down by the body in a short time, which is prevented by the addition of caapi.
Caapi – lat. completely banisteriopsis caapi – is a type of liana that contains MAO inhibitors. These monoamine oxidase inhibitors belong to the harmane alkaloids and delay the breakdown of DMT.
We only use the best medicine from the Putumayo jungle in our ayahuasca ceremonies; from our taitas, with whom we have been working for over 15 years.
Experience the healing power of ayahuasca at our unique ayahuasca ceremonies in Colombia. Embark on a journey to yourself.
In shamanic traditions, ayahuasca is consumed in rituals and ceremonies to open a gateway to the soul and bring forth spiritual experiences. In our ayahuasca ceremonies, the ayahuasca is drunk in a traditional ceremony as taught by our Taitas from the Putumayo jungle, with respect, peace and good faith.
Our ayahuasca ceremonies take place in a protected spiritual space so that you can have a safe transformative experience. In addition, we accompany you on your inner journey with music that creates a harmonious atmosphere in the ayahuasca ceremony and can help to address and heal deep rooted emotional and psychological issues.
You can now experience our ayahuasca ceremonies in several locations around the world. But if you want to dive deeper into the knowledge of Ayahuasca medicine and discover the breathtaking nature of Colombia, you can also join us on our journey into the jungle to our Taitas in Mocoa, Putumayo.
We will take you into the rainforest of Colombia where our Taitas (medicine men and women) have been preparing the ayahuasca drink for healing purposes for generations and will also accompany you to three different ayahuasca ceremonies on site.
As the ayahuasca experience during a retreat can be very intense, you should prepare yourself well for the ayahuasca ceremony. If possible, the body should also be detoxified beforehand; a diet or strict fasting is not necessary in most cases. However, you should stop eating about six hours before the ayahuasca ceremony and drink plenty of water. Drugs of any kind – including nicotine and alcohol, for example – are taboo; psychotropic drugs (antidepressants) and other medication must also not be taken. The effects of antidepressants can lead to death during an ayahuasca ceremony.
If it is necessary for you to take medication, please let us know when you make your retreat reservation. Due to our experience with ayahuasca medicine, we can offer you a very safe experience in our ceremonies.
Taking ayahuasca in a ceremony sometimes allows participants to have profound spiritual experiences – without being dangerous. The effect usually sets in after 30 to 90 minutes and can last for several hours. It is usually between six and twelve hours. The duration of the effect can be extended by increasing the dosage, i.e. by drinking several cups. This is also not dangerous. Ayahuasca can cause an expansion of consciousness and open the door to the subconscious, similar to therapy. The emotional and self-reflective perception is intensified, which is why the participants in the ayahuasca ceremony can confront themselves with their own ego and get to know themselves precisely. This is often a very stirring and emotional process, as the actual personality becomes recognizable; detached from all externally imposed conditioning, expectations and suppressions. These can be identified, examined and, if necessary, discarded. So-called shadow issues and suppressed traumas become recognizable and can be treated. The ayahuasca ceremony also helps against depression and stress; suppressed emotions such as anger and grief are released and emotional wounds and anxiety disorders can finally be healed. When working with ayahuasca medicine, the ceremonies are a form of therapy. The ceremony costs of one night or even an entire retreat are cheaper than the prices for many years of psychotherapy.
The ingestion of ayahuasca can also be associated with psychological and physical effects. Nausea and vomiting are particularly common at the beginning of the ceremony. Additional effects include sweating and freezing. For this reason, ayahuasca should always be taken in a ceremony under the supervision and guidance of experienced shamans and should never be taken alone or independently, as this could be really dangerous!

While the use of ayahuasca is legal in many South American countries, this is not the case in Germany, even though ayahuasca is not a drug. This is due to the composition of caapi and chacruna described above. Chacruna contains DMT – and this is subject to the German Narcotics Act and is not marketable in Germany. DMT is a metabolic product that can be produced by every living creature in the world. It is therefore not dangerous at all. However, the effect only unfolds twice in a lifetime, at birth and at death.
You can’t just go out in Munich and buy ayahuasca or attend a ceremony. The situation is different internationally, for example in the United States: In the USA, ayahuasca is permitted in a religious setting during an ayahuasca retreat.
The legal situation described above does not permit the organization of ayahuasca ceremonies in Germany, but regardless of this, we strongly advise against taking ayahuasca in Germany – possibly even spontaneously, alone and without experience! It really is very dangerous. Ayahuasca should always be taken in a retreat with experienced shamans.
As described above, the effects of ayahuasca can be very intense and profound. Therefore, the medicine should only be taken under supervision and professional guidance. Conscious preparation and thorough follow-up are also essential. In recent years, the option of an ayahuasca retreat has therefore become increasingly popular. Those interested can experience the sacred ayahuasca ceremony in a protected environment and after careful preparation directly in the countries where this tradition originated, for example here in Colombia.
At Ayahuasca Colombia, we work with experienced and responsible shamans directly from Colombia for the ayahuasca retreat in Colombia and enable you to enjoy the special experience of an ayahuasca retreat and a genuine shamanic ayahuasca ceremony. So you can escape from everyday life on a soothing retreat vacation in Mallorca, Austria or South America and at the same time gain unique experiences, discover your own self and develop your personality. All this and more is possible in our ayahuasca retreats.
